Welcome to Shortgrass Community Health Center

Helping clients navigate through mental health disorders, substance abuse programs, and general therapy sessions is the focus of our Behavioral Health team. Our staff is trained to identify and assess mental health conditions and help clients work towards successful outcomes. To reduce transportation barriers, our staff travel to schools in local communities to provide services at their locations and with our mobile unit. We have a licensed Advance Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Psychiatry for medication management.

We offer both short-term and long-term therapy services, depending on need.

SCHC offers Telepsychiatry services to our patients as part of our commitment to providing both high-quality and accessible health care. We have a licensed Advance Practice Registered Nurse specializing in Psychiatry for medication management.  By providing Psychiatric services, SCHC is  able to allow patients to receive specialist treatment within their community that is better coordinated with primary care than if they were referred to a typical psychiatric private practice. 

Shortgrass Community Health Center helps individuals struggling with substance use disorder build a strong foundation for long-term recovery.  Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, which is effective in the treatment of substance use disorders and can help some people to sustain recovery.  

Medication-assisted treatment works by reducing cravings in the brain caused by a chemical imbalance. When used properly, the medications have no effect on functioning so they provide a safe way to stop potentially dangerous substance use. The treatment:

• Reduces symptoms of withdrawal.
• Provides help with recovery.
• Improves quality of life and overall health and wellbeing.
• Helps you live your life and feel like yourself again.

  Shortgrass Community Health Center (SCHC) provides patients an option for first class dental care in Hollis and Harmon County for residents of all of Southwest Oklahoma. With rotating general dentists and dental hygienist staff, we are able to provide the following services:

· General Dentistry

· Fillings and extractions

· Professional Dental Cleaning (Prophylaxis)

· Dental X-Rays

· Fluoride Treatments

· Sealants

· Preventative Care

· Oral Health Education

· Community Dental Programs

When services are required outside of our scope of expertise, we will provide patients with a list of dental specialists.

Shortgrass Community Health Center (SCHC) Pharmacy accepts most insurances, including Medicare Part D and SoonerCare.  SCHC also operates a  340b pharmacy program. The 340b pharmacy program allows SCHC to offer medications at a reduced price to patients without insurance. The program covers both brand and generic medicaitons, and allows patients to obtain a 30-day supply of medication at an affordable rate. 

 Shortgrass Community Health Center (SCHC) provides patients an option for first-class vision care in Hollis and Harmon County for residents of all of Southwest Oklahoma. SCHC's contracted optometrist checks patients for common vision problems, in addition to diagnosing, managing, and treating conditons and diseases of the eye and visual system. With the contracted optometrist we are able to provide the following services: 

• Basic eye exams
• Prescribing corrective lenses
